New page

Tired and feeling trapped, Morwath wakes to a half-light, unable to move. Again, as if looking through glass , Morwath finds himself inside a room, looking obliquely up at a decorated wall and ceiling. The wall depicts Fenris snarling, leaping forward and breaking his chains, eyes aflame and teeth dripping with blood. The roof shows Thor encircled by a huge black and purple Serpent. Seemingly unable to strike the creature, Thor holds his hammer aloft in vain. A feeling of relief overcomes Morwath; however, as time passes anxiety creeps in. Something is missing…He is terribly alone . After what seems like an age, and with Morwath’s nerves stretched to the limit, a dwarven face ([[Dor]]) appears to the right. He is middle aged, with a pronounced forehead, deep sunken dark eyes, a bulbous nose and the customary thick red-brown beard. He wears a single band of gold on his head which serves to control his unruly, half-plaited hair. Around his neck is a large, thick wrought gold and silver necklace the bottom of which holds a beautifully carved ship on a sapphire sea. The dwarf appears troubled as his gaze turns away from Morwath then, almost immediately, back. A thick, rough hand stretches out and covers Morwath’s eyes, sparking another moment of panic. As if talking to himself a dwarf can be heard muttering, “Am I truly meant to bear such a burden…? Who else…? Duty, I suppose…”, then, “Hide it? No, no, that would never do; what if he were to get it? Doesn’t bear thinking about!” The sounds of walking are interspersed with more mutterings, the issue still unresolved.
