Garuk Zrallak
Garuk Zrallak is a Githzerai and not of the Prime. Garuk lived his formative years in Shrak'kt'lor (pronounced Sherak Ek Telor) before his dedication to the perfection of his mind and body led him to a more monastic life. Left by his parents at the age of 13 – as is common – for his education, Garuk became very interested in Zerthimon, like others believing in his foretold return. At the age of 18, he took the tests and was deemed worthy of joining the Zerths - the religious sect led by fighter-mages who preach Zerthimon's return, believing they will be the first chosen to assist him when he comes. Two years later he was inducted into the Gith-attala, and trained explicitly in the martial and mystical arts aimed primarily at hunting githyanki and bringing them to justice.
There were few of the Attala that had travelled to the Prime – that was left more to the Rrakkma (Rak maa); so, when Garuk had learned his first ‘mission’ was to Minnerwẽ, a massive rolling grassland steppe in the northern hemisphere of the Plane, he was stunned. The youngest of the Attala to be going, it was not lost Garuk that this was a trial. To do well now would establish him as one of the more important caste in Shrak'kt'lor; to do poorly, would be, well…disastrous. He trained long and hard in the run-up to the expedition, honing – in particular - his sword skills.
Garuk is slightly taller at 6’1”, but thinner in appearance than the average human. Whilst resembling a human, Garuk’s face is longer with sharper features and pointed ears. His skin is a greenish yellow with yellow, cat-like eyes. His is clean shaven and his head is shaved, except for a thick braid of russet hair, which flows down his back, hidden by his cloak. He is dressed in sombre colours of mainly purple and brown, dominated by his long purple cloak, accented with brown leather boots, and brown linen trousers and shirt.
Garuk always carries a huge 2 handed sword designed to kill his foe with one blow. His training as part of a Gith-attala warband means that he shuns the use of ranged weapons, preferring to wait and engage with mind and body. Garuk only uses ranged weapons for self-defence or when faced with overwhelming odds. He has little use for words and although not meaning to, can appear brusque to humans and other races.
