Aerandir Poem
The leaves were long, the grass was green,
The Willow Herb tall and fair;
And in the glade a light was seen
Of stars in shadow shimmering.
Meghan was dancing there
To music of a pipe unseen,
And light of stars was in her hair,
And in her raiment glimmering.
There Aerandir came from mountains cold,
And lost he wandered under leaves,
And where the Elven river rolled
He walked alone and sorrowing.
He peered between the hemlock- leaves
And saw in wonder flowers of gold
Upon her mantle and her sleeves,
And her hair like shadow following.
She caught her breath and looked anew
And saw the sadness of lost youth
In his reddened eyes of deepest blue
And knew her feelings were mirroring.
Without a word they both reached out
And touched in wonder to embrace
Like a fly to the spider Aerandir without
Fear at their contact love blossoming.
Like day meeting night the pair entwined
Their passion as bright as setting sun
And with mortal ties left long behind
They crossed the bridge without lamenting.
