== Origin == There were originally seven rings of power amongst the second born (dwarves) and four elven gems which contain elemental power. The Dwarven rings and the Elven Gems were linked to the Planes and/or elements At Lastar's behest [[Orodruin]] combined the 4 elven gems with their aligned dwarven rings. Three Dwarven rings remained unaltered {"they (dwarves) shall keep them for their powers affect the (shall we say) less predictable domains that come into contact with the Prime"} 2 of the unaltered rings are positive (location unknown) and negative (with the [[Derro]]); the third is believed to be Astral and belonged to [[Maedus]] == Positive Ring == == Negative Ring == Originally belonged to [[Balem]] (probably linked to presence of Negative Natural Gate in Zundar). Lost following his death but recovered by [[Demogorgan]] and passed to [[Yarl]] in exchange for lifetime support and access to the gate at [[Yarlug]], which had been moved there by [[Lastar]] == Astral Ring == Originally belonged to [[Maedus]] == Notes == Note from our encounter with Lord Marin of Orodruin's folk: 'Lord Marin also agreed that Hintzu's rings should ultimately have the gems removed and the bands only returned to the remaining dwarven Lords.' 520-530E The Rings of Power are used by the Dwarven Lords to defend Hama'Las against [[Dispater]]. (1st Age History) 557E The rings of power and the Elven gems are united by Dwarven craftsmen. [[Lastar]] gives each ring elemental powers. [[Hamar]] (in [[Minas Aarda]]) receives the ring of Earth. [[Zem]] (in [[Minas Emras]]) receives the ring of Air. [[Ishtur]] (in [[Minas Morgul]]) receives the ring of fire. [[Dor]] (in [[Minas Tiris]]) receives the ring of Water. (1st Age History) == Ring of Air == 557E After its creation, the Ring of Air is given to [[Zem]] in [[Minas Emras]]. (1st Age History) 564E All the rings are used in the creation of the [[crowns]] by [[Lastar]] and [[Orodruin]]'s folk. (1st Age History) 567E [[Lastar]] decides to use all the Rings to create a 7th Crown and forge all the [[Crowns]] together into one powerful artefact β The Crown of Light. (1st Age History) 570E [[Lastar]] uses all the Rings to imbue the [[Sarnim Stone]] with power and to create a staff to hold it. They are then used in the Abyss to kill [[Dispater]] before being scattered across the Prime. == Ring of Earth == Made from [[Ambar]], the Gem of the Prime, source of the Sylvan influence over the earth; and, [[Felakgundu]], Earth Mover, the maker and destroyer 557E After its creation, the Ring of Earth is given to [[Hamar]] in [[Minas Aarda]]. They are then used in the Abyss to kill [[Dispater]] before being scattered across the Prime. PRESENT DAY Hintzu and the party take the ring from Calios in the Iron Mountains after defeating him at his stronghold there. == Ring of Fire == 557E After its creation, the Ring of Fire is given to [[Ishtur]] in [[Minas Morgul]]. (1st Age History) 563E [[Balem]], using [[Orodruin]]βs knowledge and [[Ishtur]]βs Ring of Fire, creates a circlet of Adamantite. [[Lastar]] adds a single point holding a diamond and gives it the power of light. (1st Age History) 562E [[Dor]] moves back to [[Dor Vale]], taking the elemental Ring of Water with him.
